Prostate Cancer is common in northern Europe and USA and it arises within the peripheral zone of the prostate and almost all are carcinomas. Prostatic specific antigen is a good tumour maker and about 40% of patients will have this disease. Most patients with lower urinary tract symptoms indistinguishable from BPH. Since moat patients with outflow tract obstruction, an ultrasound scan and serum creatinine determination is used to assess the primary urinary tract. Approximately half of men with prostate cancer will have metastatic disease at the time of diagnosis. Anti-androgen drugs act by preventing the binding of androgen receptor in tumour cells, so preventing cell growth.
