Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis is a multisystem granulomatous disorder. It is more commonly seen in colder parts of northern Europe. It appears less commonly in smokers. Due to this disease superficial glands, lungs, liver, spleen, skin, eyes, parotid glands are mostly affected. Fibrosis occurs in some patients and may cause a silent loss of lung function. Complications such asbronchiectasis, aspergilloma, pnemothorax, pulmonary hypertension, and corpulmonate have been reported but are fortunately rare. The majority of patients enjoy spontaneous remission and there is no evidence and erythema nodosum should receive .In patients with severe disease both methotrexate and azathioprine have been used successfully and selected patients may be referred for consideration of single lung transplantation.
