Chronic heart failure

Chronic heart failure is the most common cardiac cause of chronic dyspnoea. Symptoms may be first present moderately severe exertion such as walking up a steep hill, and may be described as a difficulty in ‘catching my breath’. Symptoms of the heart failure is provoked by lesser exertion, washing, dressing etc. Other symptoms of breathlessness may include orthopnoea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnoea, cheyne stokes respiration. To prevent orthoponoea patient should use more pillows and prevent paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnoea may supervene causing a patient to wake and sit upright, profoundly breathless. Cheyne stokes respiration is a function of the circulation time. These diseases cause common among women.
